Thurs Aug 16 2012 - highlights and playlist

It's Billy Joe Shaver's birthday, 43 years since Merle Haggard's "Workingman's blues" hit number one, a week or so before Kirsty Akers and Kayla D3 appear in Warrnambool, a couple of days before the "Home-made jam" concert and a month before the Hank Williams night -- tune in for songs and updates relating to these events.

Billy Joe Shaver turns 73 - hear his composition "Old Chunk of Coal" as sung by John Anderson

Merle Haggard's blue-collar anthem "Workin' Man Blues" went to number 1  on the Billboard country chart on 16th Aug. 1969.

Kirsty Akers is in Warrnambool 24th Aug  -- Hear "Little things" and "Knocked up"

"Kayla D3" is the support act for Kirsty Akers -- hear the song "Posters"

Lynne Moloney and the Teacher's Pets appear at the Homemade Jam concert on Aug. 18th  -- hear "Another broken heart song "

The 3WAY Hank night 2012 is on Sept 20th -- tonight's show will feature songs along the theme "I'm so lonesome I could cry"
